Key Responsibilities
Facilitate hands‑on physics laboratory sessions for undergraduate students
Guide students through experimental procedures and data analysis techniques
Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed at all times
Assist students with equipment operation and troubleshooting
Evaluate student performance through lab reports and practical assessments
Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate with technical staff for repairs
Provide clear explanations of physics concepts and their practical applications
Support student learning through individual and small group instruction
Document and report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Physics or a closely related field
Previous teaching or instructional experience in physics laboratories
Strong knowledge of undergraduate physics principles and laboratory techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Physics or related field
Experience with modern physics laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Background in curriculum development or educational assessment
Familiarity with learning management systems
