Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lectures, discussions, and laboratory instruction in assigned physics courses.
  • Develop and follow course syllabi in accordance with guidelines.
  • Evaluate student performance using exams, assignments, labs, and other tools.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and records; ensure FERPA compliance.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support learning outcomes.
  • Maintain office hours and availability for student consultation.
  • Ensure laboratory safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and the university LMS effectively.
  • Exercise stewardship of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Adjunct Instructor, Physics
Essential Job Functions
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, discussions, and laboratoryinstruction in assigned physics courses.
  • Develop, distribute, and follow course syllabi in accordancewith departmental and divisional guidelines.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance through exams,assignments, laboratory reports, and other assessment tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and studentprogress.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to supportlearning outcomes.
  • Maintain scheduled office hours or accessibility for studentconsultation.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and properuse of equipment.
  • Utilize appropriate instructional technologies and theuniversity’s learning management system.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and comply withFERPA and institutional policies.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professionaldevelopment activities as assigned.
  • Exercise stewardship over university facilities, equipment, andinstructional materials.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Physics or a closely related field from anaccredited institution.
  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Physics or a closelyrelated discipline preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level ispreferred.

  • Fundamental and applied physics concepts relevant to assignedcourses.
  • Instructional strategies and assessment practices in highereducation.
  • Laboratory safety protocols and equipment usage.
  • FERPA and academic integrity policies.
