Job description

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, System Office

Rochester Community and Technical College is accepting applications for a one-year fixed-term, full-time physics faculty position.

A faculty member's responsibilities include classroom teaching, student advising, course evaluation, classroom preparation, student performance assessment, committee participation, classroom research, and community service. The role involves engaging in professional development and contributing to college initiatives.

Duties Include:
  1. Deliver lectures and labs for Principles of Physics and Classical Physics I/II.
  2. Participate in division meetings.
  3. Conduct assessments and evaluations of classroom and program effectiveness.
  4. Engage in college-wide initiatives and professional development activities.
  5. Advocate for students, programs, and the college.
Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $43,067 - $94,542, dependent on education and experience, in accordance with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) bargaining agreement. The state offers a comprehensive benefits package, including low-cost medical and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and paid leave and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with a major in physics, or
  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester credits (27 quarter credits) in physics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Effective teaching using diverse pedagogical methods.
  • Experience with laboratory technology and instruction.
  • Experience with departmental assessment and curriculum development.
  • Commitment to diversity and equity in education.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of community and technical colleges.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and dedication to student and department success.
