Job Description

Rochester Community and Technical College is accepting applications for a one-year fixed-term, full-time physics faculty position.

A faculty member's work assignment includes diverse professional responsibilities. Classroom teaching and student contact form the core of the role. Additionally, professional development and service to the college are essential components. Activities include student advising, course evaluation, classroom preparation, student performance evaluation, committee participation, classroom research, and community service.

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Deliver lectures and labs for Principles of Physics and Classical Physics I/II.
  2. Participate in division meetings.
  3. Conduct classroom and program assessments.
  4. Engage in college-wide initiatives.
  5. Participate in professional development.
  6. Advocate for students, programs, and the college.
Salary Range:

The salary range is $43,067 - $94,542, dependent on education and experience, in accordance with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) bargaining agreement. The state offers a comprehensive benefits package, including low-cost medical and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, short- and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and paid holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with a major in physics or
  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester credits in physics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness with diverse pedagogical methods.
  • Experience with laboratory technology.
  • Experience in assessment and curriculum development.
  • Commitment to diversity and equity.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of community and technical colleges.
  • Team-oriented attitude and dedication to students and department.

Work Shift & Telework:

This position is based in Rochester, MN, with occasional telework options to meet the needs of students and staff.
