Position: Fully remote Physician Coding Surgical Pediatric Senior Coder. You will code Surgical procedures for the Pediatric team, focusing on multi-specialties including Surgical. Production expectations vary based on the type of coding (E/M, Procedures, or at least 9 encounters/hour).

• Location: Remote
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Ideal Candidate: 3-5 years Surgical coding experience
• Requirements: 5+ years coding experience AND certification through AHIMA or AAPC

This remote position is available in specified states only. Hours are flexible within 7am–7pm, requiring five 8-hour shifts weekly, Monday to Friday.

Position Summary

This role involves complex professional coding support for physician practices, evaluating medical records, and ensuring accurate coding per guidelines. It includes training, mentoring, and leading discussions on coding practices.

Core Functions

• Analyze medical records, accurately code diagnoses and procedures, and consult with providers as needed.
• Abstract clinical data into electronic records, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with coding regulations and standards.
• Compile reports for research or analysis.
• Identify and correct complex coding issues.
• Mentor less experienced staff and assist in onboarding new coders.
• Manage work independently, prioritizing tasks effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training or an Associate’s degree.
• Certification through AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT).
• At least 5 years of specialized, complex coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles.
• Ability to work independently with high accountability and quality standards.
• Effective in a remote work environment, familiar with office and coding systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Radiology Certified Coder (RCC) if applicable.
• Additional specialty coding certifications.
