Position Summary: This posting encompasses Physician coding roles, including Physician Coder I, II, and Senior Coder. Applicants will be considered for the appropriate role based on organizational needs, experience, a coding assessment, and qualifications.

Accurately and efficiently access a wide range of specialty physician billing and Health Information Systems to gather necessary records for coding and billing professional physician and/or physician extender services.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions for Coder II:

• Review medical records and code physician services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classifications.
• Code diagnoses, co-morbidities, procedures, supplies, and medications.
• Verify billable physician services by reviewing documentation for compliance with federal rules.
• Report issues or trends to the Senior Coder for evaluation.
• Collaborate with the specialty team to meet financial goals.
• Assist with follow-up of patient accounts to maximize reimbursement.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and management.
• Maintain a 90% accuracy rate.
• Attend meetings and maintain punctual attendance.
• Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions:

• Participate in departmental goals and maintain productivity standards.
• Engage in professional development and maintain certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, and proficiency in CPT and ICD coding.

Licensure/Certification: Certification such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CMC.

Physician Coder II Required Experience:

• At least 3 years of certified coding experience in professional or physician practice coding.
• Proficiency in multi-specialty E/M coding; surgical coding knowledge is a plus.
