Position Summary: This posting covers Physician coding roles, including Physician Coder I, II, and Senior. Applicants will be considered for the appropriate role based on organizational needs, experience, assessment results, and qualifications.

Accurately access and review physician billing and Health Information Systems to gather records and code services professionally.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions for Coder II:

• Review medical records and code physician services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS classifications.
• Verify billable services by reviewing physician documentation for compliance with federal rules.
• Report issues or trends found in documentation to Senior Coder.
• Collaborate with the team to meet financial goals.
• Assist the Central Business Office with follow-up on patient accounts to maximize reimbursement.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and management.
• Use available resources for accurate coding.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Achieve and maintain 90% accuracy rate.
• Attend meetings and maintain regular attendance.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Medical terminology, and computer literacy.
• Proven knowledge of CPT and ICD coding (80% or better on skills test).

Licensure/Certification:

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), CCS-P, CCA, or CMC through recognized bodies.

Physician Coder II Required Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of certified coding experience in professional or physician practice coding.
• Proficiency in multi-specialty E/M coding; surgical coding knowledge is a plus.
