Summary

Duties

• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Incumbent will work as a Cardiologist in all aspects of patient care including surgery and inpatient/outpatient care, as well as a call rotation. Accepting inpatient and outpatient consults from Primary Care and other Specialty clinics. The Cardiologist reports to the Chief of Cardiology.

Clinical Practice Duties include:

• Document interventions and review health team documentation of patient treatment plans, involving primary care providers when indicated.
• Recognize complex situations impacting patient care and intervene appropriately.
• Maintain current knowledge of professional trends.

Quality of Care:

• Use professional standards to evaluate programs and activities.
• Develop and lead interdisciplinary teams to improve performance.
• Establish measurable goals based on patient population and diagnoses.
• Track and analyze issues related to care delivery.

Performance:

• Develop and implement standards of practice and care.
• Facilitate open communication among staff and with patients.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment:

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible.
• Urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment; refusal will result in denial of employment.
• Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• May be required to serve a probationary period.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Complete online onboarding; valid identification required; effective May 7, 2025, non-REAL ID driver’s licenses are not acceptable for employment.
• Must pass pre-employment physical.
• Participation in influenza vaccination program required.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet basic and any additional listed requirements. Pending training or licensing completion applicants may be considered tentatively. Current VA physicians meeting previous standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements include:

• US Citizenship
• Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved school
• Current, full, unrestricted license in the US
• Completed residency training approved by VA
• Proficiency in English

Additional Requirements: Must meet all educational requirements for a Cardiologist and credentialing.

Preferred Experience: Prior work as a Cardiologist.
