Job summary

Capital Health in New Jersey invites a Physician Assistant to join our hospital-based care team. You will conduct histories, physical exams, and contribute to daily rounds with physicians, while assisting with admissions and care planning across the continuum.

Responsibilities include initiating and adjusting treatments, coordinating therapies, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. You will participate in quality improvement and patient care standard development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program, approved by the NCCPA.
• One-year experience working with primary care management or acute care preferred.
• NJ Physician Assistant License.

Responsibilities

• Performs histories and physical examinations, ongoing patient assessments and some critical care procedures with physicians.
• Assists with admission work-ups and/or consults to facilitate care across the continuum.
• Initiates, monitors, alters and orders treatments including device placement, therapies, home health referrals, and discharge planning.
• Re-evaluates the patient throughout hospitalization and adjusts the plan of care in collaboration with the clinical staff.
• Demonstrates skills to provide services appropriate to the patient's age and development.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for diagnosis and management.
• Completes wound assessments and orders labs, imaging and other studies, and explains procedures to patients.
• Participates in hospital Quality Improvement and helps develop patient care standards.
