Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to support comprehensive patient care in a dynamic clinical environment. You will obtain histories, perform examinations, and coordinate care plans with physicians, nurses, and other providers to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role includes daily rounds, ordering and interpreting labs and tests, and guiding discharge instructions. Active NYS licensure, ARC-PA validated training, and NCCPA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• ARC-PA accredited program required.
• Licensed Physician Assistant (LPA) by NYS Education Department required.
• Current NCCPA certification required.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Initiates, documents and communicates the plan of care and follows-up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
• Performs daily patient rounds.
• Writes orders for medications, laboratory work and diagnostic tests; interprets results.
• Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff and other care providers to ensure quality patient care.
• Notes discharge summaries, prescriptions and referrals on patient charts; informs patients of post-discharge care instructions.
• Performs related duties as required.
