Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our care delivery team in specialty and critical care settings. The PA provides comprehensive patient care in physician offices and non-acute settings, develops therapeutic plans, orders tests, and documents in the EMR while collaborating with physicians to ensure patient-centered outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies required.
• Current PA Physician Assistant License required.
• PA-C or board eligible per eligibility rules.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care including recording medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plans, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting results, and documenting medical records in physician offices and non-acute settings.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies to determine and implement treatment plans.
• Makes medical diagnoses and initiates appropriate therapy within scope and standards of practice.
• Institutes emergency measures and stabilization in acute patient situations, such as cardiac arrest or shock.
• Ensures accurate EMR documentation to support coding and billing and reports pertinent information to the attending physician.
• Educates patients and families on health, illness prevention, medications, and community resources.
• Communicates with the attending physician regarding the plan of care and involves them in decisions outside the PA's scope.
• Maintains continuing education and participates in patient safety and quality initiatives.
• Performs specialty-specific procedures with privileging as required.
