Job summary

Concentra, Inc. in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Physical Therapist Support Specialist to assist therapy staff with referrals, scheduling, and patient intake while maintaining a clean and welcoming therapy department.

The role involves managing authorizations, EMR documentation, inventory, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with the Center Therapy Director and staff therapists to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• At least six months of referral management experience.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of state-specific occupational medicine requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain timely authorizations for therapy treatments.
• Maintain records for active referrals in the ref. module.
• Process referrals per state guidelines or client direction.
• Support CTD and staff in adhering to the medical model for referrals.
• Report denials or delays to leadership as needed.
• Schedule authorized visits within referral limits and dates.
• Contact patients who miss appointments and report to employer.
• Document cancellations or rescheduled appointments in EMR.
• Handle front/back office clerical tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Cross-train to perform Front Office duties and patient flow tasks.
• Manage daily therapy supply inventory and equipment logs.
• Maintain therapy equipment and perform maintenance logs.
• Assist with patient flow and inform patients of wait times.
• Keep facility neat, clean, and orderly; ensure safety.
