Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) – Hospice – PRN

A brief summary of what's ahead
Location: Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County
Full Time Equivalent (FTE): 1
Job position summary: Performs physical therapy treatment and exercise instruction under the direction of a Physical Therapist.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable certification board.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately evaluate patient needs and implement/review/maintain a comprehensive care plan.
  • Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
  • Educate the patient on physical aspects of care.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Does this position have supervisory or management responsibilities? No.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education commensurate with license requirements at date of issue.
  • Current licensure in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) through the Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
  • Current BLS/CPR card from approved provider within 30 days of hire or by the end of orientation, whichever comes first.
  • Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving).
  • Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in a similar environment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic knowledge of Occupational Therapy principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Medium Work: Occasionally exerting up to 50 lbs - constantly exerting up to 10 lbs.
  • 26-50% of the day may be standing or walking.
