Job summary

Southern Ohio Medical Center is hiring a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for the day shift. Under supervision of a Physical Therapist, you will help patients develop, recover, and maintain mobility and function, implement treatment plans, and document progress.

You will educate patients and families and assist with discharge planning and adaptive equipment guidance. Qualified candidates hold an Associate's degree in the discipline and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in developing, recovering, and maintaining patient mobility.
• Implement treatment plans under supervision.
• Monitor patient responses and progress; document outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about deficits and use of adaptive equipment.
• Support discharge planning and community resource referrals.

How you'll contribute

• Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, physical therapy services to patients needing to develop, recover and maintain physical mobility/function.
• Implement treatment plan developed by supervising therapist using appropriate modalities.
• Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Monitors patient's responses to the treatment plan.
• Regularly communicates patient progress and possible goal revisions to the physical therapist.
• Documents services provided and patient response/progress.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Assists with patient discharge planning. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
