Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to perform prescribed physical therapy treatments in a hospital setting or the patient's home under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

You will implement treatment plans, instruct patients in exercises and the use of assistive devices, document responses, and help supervise other PTA staff to support patient rehabilitation and safety.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a two-year accredited program leading to an Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant studies.
• Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) licensure in the state where employed.
• Minimum of one year experience in a Physical Therapy department preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy treatments in a medical facility or in the patient's home under the supervision of a Physical Therapist and per plan.
• Administers exercises, massage, heat, light, water, electrical, and infrared treatments.
• Instructs patients to improve walking and mobility and uses assistive devices as directed.
• Observes patient progress and reports findings to the Physical Therapist.
• Documents treatment provided and patient response in the medical record.
• Maintains records and assists in in-service education and equipment upkeep.
