Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Rehabilitation Physical Therapist to perform assessments and create individualized treatment plans for adult and geriatric patients. You will supervise patients and rehabilitation staff, including PT assistants, in accordance with state practice acts, while upholding Mercy's mission and service standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork with Therapy Leadership, continued clinical development, and adherence to professional guidelines to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Current state license to practice Physical Therapy.
• DPT / MSPT / BPT or equivalent degree required.
• Maintain BLS certification current before caring for patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform objective assessments and develop individualized treatment programs for adults and geriatrics.
• Provide direct supervision to patients and indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians.
• Supervise PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts.
• Operate in alignment with Mercy mission and service standards.

Under the general supervision of Therapy Leadership and according to departmental policies and procedures regarding referral, standards of treatment, performs objective assessments, as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for adult and geriatric patients. Responsible for direct supervision to patients, indirect supervision of rehabilitation technicians. General supervision of PT assistants in accordance with State Practice Acts. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Education: Current State license of Physical Therapy. Bachelor, Master of Science in Physical Therapy or Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Licensure: Current/Temporary license of Physical Therapy in state of practice.
Experience:
Certifications: BLS certified. Required certifications must be current before assigned to care for patients independently.

Preferred Experience: Six months to one year experience is preferred for Rehabilitation Physical Therapist. Prefer experience with care for adult and geriatric patients.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
