Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is a technically educated individual who assists the physical therapist in providing selected physical therapy interventions. Under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, the PTA plays a crucial role in patient care, supporting efforts to optimize physical function, movement, performance, health, and overall well-being across the lifespan.

The scope of practice for the PTA is influenced by professional, jurisdictional, and personal factors, including:

• Professional scope: Management of patients and clients under supervision to improve health outcomes, contribute to public health, and enhance quality of life.
• Jurisdictional scope: Defined by the practice act and rules governing licensure in the specific state.
