Job Summary:

Provides physical therapy to inpatients and outpatients. Responsible for hands-on care and associated documentation. Performs operational tasks of the department and participates in development activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Selects appropriate evaluation tools.
2. Administers evaluations correctly and safely.
3. Uses correct documentation tools for patient types.
4. Demonstrates competency in assessment of inpatients and outpatients.
5. Develops appropriate care plans for patients.
6. Sets clear, measurable goals.
7. Creates effective therapeutic treatment plans.
8. Initiates and progresses treatment based on patient progress.
9. Performs treatments safely for patients and staff.
10. Manages time effectively in planning and applying care.
11. Modifies treatment based on ongoing assessment.
12. Maintains effective communication with healthcare team members.
13. Performs timely documentation with appropriate terminology and format.
14. Utilizes EHR and other hospital systems effectively.
15. Enters charges accurately for treatments provided.
16. Participates in patient care meetings as appropriate.
17. Represents the PT department in interdepartmental meetings.
18. Provides patient and family education routinely.
19. Includes written instructions and home programs for patients and families.
20. Provides in-services to team members or community as needed.
21. Participates in departmental meetings and in-services.
22. Engages in outside workshops and continuing education.
23. Contributes to departmental improvements and new program development.
24. Involved in new team member orientation.
25. Provides supervision to PTAs, aides, students, or volunteers.
26. Participates in peer and competency reviews.
27. Familiar with federal and state regulations for PT services.
28. Understands insurance regulations relevant to PT services.
29. Adheres to hospital and PT policies and procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong customer service skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• General physical therapy treatment skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy.
• Licensed as a Physical Therapist in Indiana.
• No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking, standing, reaching, talking, and use of hands.
• May need to lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
