Job summary

PADT, Inc. is seeking a motivated Photonics Engineer in Tempe, AZ to provide technical expertise in Ansys photonics and optics simulations.

You will work with customers and PADT’s sales team to scope, demonstrate, and propose solutions for lasers, waveguides, and photonic devices. You will perform simulations, model setups, and result interpretations while developing training materials and technical collateral to help customers adopt PADT's photonics tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
• Strong theoretical understanding of photonics, such as electromagnetics, wave propagation, and light-matter interaction.
• Minimum of one year of experience with optics and/or photonics simulation tools (e.g., Ansys Lumerical, Zemax, CODE V, or similar).
• Proficiency with English communication and ability to present technical concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with scripting for workflow automation (Python, MATLAB).
• Availability for travel (25–30%).

Responsibilities

• Scope optics/photonics simulation solutions with customers and identify opportunities.
• Support account managers with technically driven optics/photonics opportunities and proposals.
• Provide technical support, including troubleshooting and documentation for customer workflows.
• Develop and deliver technical training, demonstrations, and presentations on optics/photonics use cases.
• Create technical collateral (notes, tutorials, blogs, webinars) to promote adoption.
• Conduct benchmarking and PoC studies with Ansys tools and report results.
• Maintain knowledge of Ansys optics and related multiphysics offerings.
• Participate in ongoing training to expand optics expertise.
