Job summary

PADT, Inc. is seeking a Photonics Engineer to provide expert simulation and technical support for customers, using Ansys optics tools such as Lumerical and Zemax. You will work closely with PADT’s sales team to scope solutions and deliver demonstrations for lasers, waveguides, PICs, and related photonic devices.

Qualifications

• BS in Optics/Physics/EE (MS preferred)
• Strong theoretical photonics knowledge (EM, wave propagation)
• 1+ year in optics/photonics simulation tools (Ansys Lumerical, Zemax, CODE V)
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Strong verbal/written English communication
• Proficiency with PowerPoint/Word/Excel
• Scripting or programming for automation (Python, MATLAB)
• Willingness to travel 25–30%

Responsibilities

• Scope optics/photonics simulation solutions with customers.
• Support sales proposals with technical input and demonstrations.
• Provide technical support including workflows, workarounds, and training.
• Develop technical collateral: notes, tutorials, webinars.
• Perform benchmarking and POC studies with Ansys tools.
• Keep up-to-date with Ansys optics and related multiphysics offerings.
• Collaborate with internal teams to extend optics/photonics capabilities.
