Job summary

Lightmatter, Inc. is hiring a Photonics Architect to partner with the internal engineering team to define the micro-architecture for a ground-breaking photonic-based communication fabric. You will deliver detailed technical documents and work across device-level design to top-level layout to enable high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnects.

The role reports to the Sr. Director of Architecture and collaborates with photonic and analog teams to optimize features for power, performance, and area in

Qualifications

• PhD in electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, or a discipline related to photonics.
• Experience with integrated silicon photonics components and photonic design.
• Familiarity with photonic simulation tools: FDTD, umerical, Verilog-A, VPI Photonics.
• Ability to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Propose innovative photonic designs—modulators, receivers, multiplexers, lasers, amplifiers—for the product.
• Provide performance, power, and area estimates for photonic devices within Passage.
• Collaborate with the analog engineering team to deliver a high-bandwidth photonic interconnect solution.
• Author, review, and validate architectural specifications.
