Job summary

The New School's Parsons Making Center is seeking a Student Assistant for the Photography Labs and Equipment Resource Center at 66 Fifth Avenue. You will help with tool/equipment checkout, space monitoring, and daily operations in a busy, student-facing environment.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, organization, and the ability to work independently, including evenings and weekends. On-campus hours and safety protocols apply, with opportunities to learn new lab skills and procedures.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication; strong attention to detail and time management.
• Able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate clearly with Making Center users.
• Adaptable and reliable in communicating schedule changes.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Google Suite (Calendar, Gmail, Docs, Sheets).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service, assist students and faculty with reservations and equipment requests, and assist with shop upkeep and organization.
• Perform regular upkeep of shops and spaces to maintain organization and cleanliness.
• Complete special projects as assigned and participate in staff trainings.
