Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks a process engineer to join a world-class wafer fabrication team. You will monitor in-line processes, qualify new tools, and schedule qualifications while coordinating with manufacturing and equipment engineering. Proficiency in data analysis, Python/VBA, and statistical methods is required.

The role involves implementing process improvements, SOP updates, and supporting 24x7 manufacturing with a focus on yield enhancement and equipment performance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Computer Science (3.0 GPA or better for new grads).
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
• Understanding of statistical methods and Change Point Management.
• Understanding of Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
• Structure Problem Solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
• Experience with Software Data Analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, Matlab, etc.).
• Ability to wear clean room suit and PPE, lift < 35 lbs and work in FAB environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the wafer fabrication process by responding to in-line issues and dispositions of production wafers.
• Qualify wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
• Coordinate scheduling of process qualifications and equipment downtime with manufacturing or equipment engineering.
• Use software to analyze data, identify trends and make processing decisions.
• Make adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitor parameters after maintenance.
