Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from a Phlebotomy technical training program preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification preferred.
• 1+ years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with LIS/EMR systems recommended.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens for laboratory testing via venipuncture, skin puncture, or heel sticks.
• Collects non-blood specimens such as urine and sputum.
• Verifies orders and labeling; ensures accuracy before collection.
• Assembles collection equipment and prepares specimens for processing.
• Identifies patients and explains procedures to reduce anxiety.
• Process and accession specimens for testing; document results.
• Maintain neat work area and restock supplies daily.
• May assist in receptionist duties and training of staff.
