Job summary

Optum in Peabody, MA is seeking a Lab Associate to obtain blood samples and non-blood specimens, provide information on laboratory tests, and support routine lab operations. The role includes collecting specimens, ensuring proper labeling, and maintaining a safe, organized work area in a 40-hour weekly schedule.

You will work with the Laboratory department, adhere to PPE and safety standards, and may cover other sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience and ability to collect blood samples.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
• Familiarity with phlebotomy safety and specimen labeling.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens using venipuncture, skin puncture, and heel sticks.
• Collect non-blood specimens such as urine and throat swabs.
• Verify test orders and label specimens accurately.
• Maintain supplies and equipment and keep work area clean.
• Assist in training interns or new employees as needed.
