Job summary

Hazelhawkins is seeking a Laboratory Phlebotomist to collect specimens from patients of all ages, ensuring proper technique and patient identification. The role requires maintaining specimen integrity, logging data, and handling lab requests within the hospital information system.

Ideal candidates will hold a California CPT certificate, have a High School diploma or equivalent, and prefer 6 months of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certificate required.
• 6 months experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens from patients of all ages by venipuncture, finger stick, and/or heel stick according to policy.
• Follows National Patient Safety Goals to correctly identify patients before drawing blood samples.
• Greets patients in a courteous manner and communicates with empathy.
• Collects and processes specimens according to test priority (STAT, timed, routine).
• Maintains records for send-out specimens and monitors reports from referral labs.
