Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• California CPT I or CPT II license and BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established protocols.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers and ensure accurate labeling of specimens.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and provide reassurance as needed.
• Process, handle, store, and transport specimens in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine quality control, and report malfunctions.
• Follow infection control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with providers and care team members to coordinate patient care.
• Monitor inventory and notify appropriate staff of supply needs.
• Respond to patient inquiries and support lab-related communication workflows.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
