Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for the Winston Campus Laboratory. The role supports accurate blood collection during the 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) and requires adherence to safety and patient identification protocols.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, data entry into the LIS, and teamwork within the Laboratory department. CPR certification and phlebotomy experience are preferred, with an ASCP/AMT/ASPT-equivalent credential highly regarded.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• CPR Certification.
• ASCP/AMT/ASPT or equivalent certification from an accredited phlebotomy program.

Responsibilities

• Promote a cooperative work environment through clear communication and teamwork.
• Ensure accurate and timely collection of blood specimens per department procedures.
• Verify proper patient identification and delivery of samples to lab sections.
• Follow safety and identification procedures when handling patients and specimens.
• Serve as a resource to staff, applying phlebotomy knowledge in daily routines.
• Maintain supplies and assist with LIS data entry and report printing.
