Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience required; pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs blood collection and specimen processing with supervision as assigned including EKGs as needed.
• Obtains quality blood samples using phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
• Ensures correct patient identification, labeling, processing, and transport of specimens.
• May assist in recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and rapid response to medical emergencies in inpatient setting.
• Communicates effectively with patients and care teams to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
• Troubleshoots specimen, order, and operational issues within the work area.
• Provides training and education to new staff and students as assigned.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements and HIPAA compliance.
