Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect and process blood specimens from patients under moderate supervision, delivering accurate samples for laboratory testing. You will obtain quality samples and support training of new staff as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.
• Licenses and Credentials: Phlebotomy Technician [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Experience: 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience required
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in proper collection methods, labeling, processing and specimen handling.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong written and oral communication, prioritization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• Communicates effectively with patients and care teams to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order, and common operational issues.
• Provides training and education to new staff and students.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials per regulatory requirements to ensure safety.
• Works with computer systems and HIPAA compliant processes.
• Performs other tests, administration, and specimen collection as assigned.
