Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy course preferred.
• Proficiency in proper collection methods and specimen handling.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; patient privacy and autonomy respected.
• Works independently and with team collaboration; HIPAA compliance.
• Ability to handle biohazardous materials safely.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples from patients of all ages.
• Ensures correct patient identification and proper labeling, handling and transport of specimens.
• May assist in patient care in emergencies.
• Communicates procedures clearly to patients and care teams to ensure satisfaction.
• Handles sharps and biohazards per regulatory requirements.
• Uses computer systems and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Performs additional test administration and specimen collection as assigned.
