Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to collect and prepare blood samples for laboratory testing. You will perform skin puncture and venipuncture, label specimens, and ensure accurate patient and requisition matching.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and prior blood draw experience or phlebotomy training; ASCP-BOR certification is preferred. You will work with lab staff to support quality control and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Uses skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples.
• Follows defined process in obtaining samples including verifying patient information, labeling specimen vials, and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Disposes of contaminated needles in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into appropriate system(s).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training course in approved program.

Responsibilities

• Collects and prepares blood samples for laboratory testing.
• Enters collections of such specimens in lab information system.
• Assists medical technologists and/or pathologists in performing designated laboratory tests.
• Assists with maintaining laboratory equipment and records following established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards.
