Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc, MI, seeks a Laboratory Patient Service Center Specialist to manage the day-to-day operations of the patient service center, including registering patients, ordering tests, and handling specimens. Responsibilities include proper specimen collection, processing, transport, and data entry into hospital and lab information systems; ensuring ABN disclosures and consent; 6 months phlebotomy experience required.

Schedule: Full-time, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs proper specimen collection (blood and non-blood) including patient preparation, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation, and storage of specimens.
• Completes specimen handling and processing including centrifuging all tubes and aliquoting.
• Arranges for specimen transport using established procedure.
• Collects, verifies, and processes patient registration data and test orders into hospital information system/laboratory information system and understands insurance plans.
• Adheres to Compliance policies including presenting Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) of non-coverage prior to outpatient services.
• Obtains consent for treatment.
