Job summary

Advocate Health in Lexington is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist for the Laboratory: Outreach Services. The role involves collecting blood specimens, proper patient identification, and coordinating with laboratory staff to ensure accurate test ordering and reporting.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED; one year of phlebotomy experience is preferred. The workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend rotation and a 8am–5pm schedule.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment.
• Ensures accurate and timely collection of blood specimens per department practices.
• Identifies and delivers patient samples to lab sections accurately.
• Follows safety and identification procedures when handling patients and specimens.
• Demonstrates phlebotomy knowledge and serves as a resource to staff.
• Maintains inventory and performs clerical tasks including LIS entries and report deliveries.
