Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of phlebotomy or related laboratory function.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Verify positive patient identification and ensure patient safety.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from patients of all ages.
• Label, track and transport specimens to testing sites per protocol.
• Conduct limited testing under CLIA guidelines as required.
• Answer calls, assist with inventory, and support billing and other functions.
• Process specimens for testing including pre-analytical steps and instrument loading.
• Enter laboratory results into the computer system.
• Participate in proficiency testing and generate routine reports.
• Instruct staff and students in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care and communicate effectively with the care team.
