Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center is seeking a phlebotomist to join the IL ACL Laboratories - Good Samaritan: Support Services team. You will perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients, ensuring proper labeling and specimen integrity.

The position is full-time, 32 hours per week, day shift with starts between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. with rotating weekends and holidays. A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year phlebotomy experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience, preferred.
• Basic computer skills including experience using computer software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification and ensures patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves labeling issues.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and equipment.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents information for quality assurance.
