Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a phlebotomist to obtain blood specimens from patients and transport them to the laboratory. You will correctly identify patients and specimens and ensure timely, accurate handling during a fast-paced workflow.

Preferred MLA certification (ASCP/AMT) and an associate degree with biology/chemistry coursework; education requirements include a high school diploma or GED. The role emphasizes confidentiality and precision in specimen handling.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or GED required.

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process. Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
