Job summary

Huntsville Hospital seeks a skilled phlebotomist to collect blood specimens and ensure accurate patient identification. You will handle specimens per protocol, transport them to the lab, and maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

Applicants should have a high school diploma; MLA certification preferred and an associate degree in biology/chemistry is desired. Strong communication and CPR certification by orientation finish are expected.

Job description

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or GED required.

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process. Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
