Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a patient-focused phlebotomy technician to obtain blood specimens and ensure accurate specimen labeling and delivery to the laboratory. The role emphasizes precise patient identification and timely transport within a leading regional health system.

Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, with MLA certification preferred and an Associate degree in biology/chemistry being advantageous.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.

• Previous work experience strongly preferred.
• CPR (HeartSaver) must be completed by end of orientation.

MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (i.e. ASCP or AMT) preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information. Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process. Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
