Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Certification eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred.
• Proficient in LIS accessioning and reference laboratory send-outs.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, fingerstick, heelstick) according to procedure.
• Identifies patients and labels specimen tubes correctly.
• Determines priority of STAT draws and ensures timely transport of specimens to the lab.
• Utilizes computers for assigned tasks and maintains workload statistics.
• Assists in training new employees and student interns under supervision.
