Job summary

Cape Cod Healthcare Inc. is seeking a Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomist) to provide quality patient care by collecting laboratory specimens and processing them per established guidelines at our Mashpee, MA locations.

You will perform blood collection, specimen handling, LIS data entry, and routine home/nursing home draws as part of a rotating, flex-hour schedule. Strong communication and adherence to HIPAA are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Successful completion of a basic phlebotomy program with classroom instruction and practical hours or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Massachusetts Driver's License within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides front-line customer service for the laboratory, communicating professionally and confidentially with patients and staff.
• Collects blood samples via venipuncture, finger, and heel sticks; performs throat swabs and home-collected specimens.
• Processes specimens per test guidelines; maintains sample temperature for accuracy.
• Registers patient information into LIS accurately for billing and service tracking.
• Enters physician orders into LIS and ensures correct patient accounts.
• Maintains HIPAA and Medicare compliance knowledge applicable to phlebotomy.
• Sites cross-coverage across CCHC Laboratories; can open/close multiple sites as needed.
• Communicates specimen identity and results with physicians; resolves specimen problems with supervision as needed.
• Performs occasional stat draws at nursing homes, patient homes or physician offices; participates in on-call rotations.
• Fills supply orders, maintains phlebotomy stockrooms, and keeps drawing rooms clean and safe.
