Job summary

ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital is seeking a part-time laboratory phlebotomist to perform routine and specialized blood specimen collections for patients of all ages. The role requires adherence to aseptic techniques and involvement in pre-analytic processes.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, coordination with laboratory staff, and utilization of the laboratory information system to ensure accurate testing and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or pursuing one.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or documented phlebotomy experience (e.g., venipunctures, effective puncture techniques, blood draws).
• Preferred: Associate degree in science related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special blood specimen collection for all age groups.
• Collects products or specimens for basic procedures and may perform point-of-care testing using proper techniques.
• Maintains asepsis and antisepsis; assists in patient care before, during, and after specimen collection.
• Determines appropriate tests and minimum volumes based on specimen; references test synonyms and specimen types.
