Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Toledo-area hospital team. You will collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.

You will perform pre-analytic tasks, including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and packaging, and you will help train new associates or students. Adherence to asepsis and QA principles is essential to ensure quality and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy training diploma or 1 year phlebotomy experience.
• Clinical rotation in a hospital setting (3+ weeks).

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.
• Handle pre-analytic tasks: centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and packaging.
• Follow asepsis/antisepsis principles and use leadership to train new associates or students.
• Use QA data to improve services and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Be familiar with test names/abbreviations and cross-reference tests to specimen types.
