Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to collect, accession and process specimens under supervision. You will perform blood draws across age groups, document results meticulously and ensure proper labeling and transport of specimens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months phlebotomy experience.
• 6 months laboratory accessioning experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Extracts blood from patients and performs phlebotomy procedures following aseptic technique.
• Documents all phlebotomy rounds and outpatient callbacks with accuracy.
• Enters patient demographics, test orders, and verifies specimen collection/receipt.
• Prepares and processes specimens: labeling, measuring, aliquoting, centrifuging, distribution.
• Performs donor screening and applies universal precautions in the donor room.
• Maintains donor room documentation and QC activities.
• Maintains equipment and supplies; handles centrifuge maintenance and labeling.
• Ensures timely sending of specimens to the lab and accurate order matching.
