Job summary

Tampa General Hospital-Hernando is seeking an experienced phlebotomist to collect specimens from patients, coordinate clerical tasks, and support laboratory operations. You will serve as a front-line contact for patients and staff and ensure accurate data communication to health care providers.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, training new staff, maintaining records, and supporting the laboratory manager and Medical Director in oversight of phlebotomy activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of phlebotomy experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from ARC or AHA.

Responsibilities

• Collect human clinical specimens using established venipuncture techniques.
• Serve as receptionist for patients and hospital staff interacting with the laboratory.
• Perform clerical tasks to create, maintain and communicate patient data to providers.
• Train, supervise and coordinate phlebotomy activities and staff competency.
• Maintain inventory and assist during regulatory or accreditation surveys.
• Communicate and document abnormal or critical test results to clinicians.
