Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a 495-bed hospital in Amarillo. The Phlebotomist performs venipunctures, capillary blood collections, and POCT under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Coordinator, contributing to patient care and the department's goals.

The role includes training phlebotomy students and new staff, ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, and hospital procedures, and supporting service excellence across the care teams.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent required; phlebotomy program preferred.
• PBT (ASCP) certification or eligibility within 12 months of employment.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and capillary collections; conducts POCT under supervision.
• Assist in training phlebotomy students and new employees.
