Qualifications

• High school education with phlebotomy training; two years of college preferred.
• One year of full-time phlebotomy experience preferred.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintained throughout employment.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and capillary blood collections according to CAP/CLIA/JCAHO standards and hospital policies.
• Performs point-of-care testing (POCT) and related procedures; participates in quality improvement in the department.
• Assists in training phlebotomy students and new employees; integrates the department into the hospital's operations.
