Job summary

Adventist Health Portland is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform specimen collection and accession receiving on a medical center campus. You will distribute specimens to departments and process samples for diagnostic testing, focusing on phlebotomy and related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities include obtaining blood specimens, verifying IDs, and maintaining quality controls while coordinating with leads and staff across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required in CA; preferred in OR and HI.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Verifies specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type/volume for testing.
• Processes samples using aseptic technique and prepares paperwork for testing and reference lab testing.
• Confers with patients to obtain information for records and to explain procedures.
• Communicates with other departments and staff to improve flow and quality of lab work.
• Follows guidelines for missed collections and recollects; maintains equipment and supplies.
