Job summary

Salem Health in Dallas, Oregon seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to deliver safe, accurate care in the West Valley Hospital lab. You will collect specimens, perform EKGs, register patients in Epic, and support providers with timely results.

This role blends technical skills with patient interaction in a fast-paced environment, maintaining infection control and safety procedures. Full-time, 40 hours weekly, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday, with Lean improvement and professional development

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited phlebotomy program or sufficient work experience to qualify for a national certification exam.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection including venous, capillary, arterial, swab, and breath tests following infection control and safety procedures.
• Support nursing homes and care facilities by managing schedules, communicating with staff, and ensuring accurate orders and resident preparation.
• Register patients in Epic, verify insurance, release orders, and ensure documentation is complete and compliant.
• Perform EKGs including verification, troubleshooting poor reads, identifying critical results, and escalating per protocol.
• Process and handle laboratory specimens according to test stability requirements, ensuring proper transport and documentation.
• Administer substances for glucose tolerance, H. pylori breath tests, and lactose tolerance testing.
• Maintain draw center operations including supply checks, equipment upkeep, and routine maintenance.
• Provide exceptional customer service using AIDET, proper phone etiquette, and accurate communication with patients and care teams.
• Participate in Lean improvement work to enhance workflows, quality, and patient experience.
