Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Lab Assistant II at Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health to independently perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and clerical duties. You will support various lab operations, ensure timely processing, and assist during supervision gaps.

Responsibilities span front office tasks, phlebotomy procedures, back office functions, specimen processing, and inventory control, with emphasis on accuracy and patient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong computer proficiency required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills for pediatric and geriatric patients.
• CPR certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Front Office: patient registration, collect payments, verify insurance, and direct calls.
• Phlebotomy: identify patient, verify orders, perform venipuncture, document results.
• Back Office: prepare reports, maintain billing information, and manage internal communications.
• Processing Specimens: spin down, transport, and proper labeling of specimens.
• Inventory: monitor supplies, place orders, and maintain clean work areas.
• Computer Utilization: retrieve results, print sheets, load insurance, and register patients.
• Other Related Functions: travel to FMC locations as needed and maintain positive customer service.
